【日本での初めての医者 Seeing a doctor for the first time in Japan】

アッサラームアレイクム！

Assalamualaikum!

何でも「初めて」は緊張するものです。

ムスリムになりヒジャーブを被るようになってから、初めてのことだらけでしたが

ヒジャーブ姿で医者に行くことは「初めて」の中でも勇気のいるものでした。

Whatever we experience “for the first time”, we always feel nervous.

After I became a Muslimah and started to wear hijab, there were many other things that I started doing for the first time.

But going to a doctor with the hijab on for the first time was one of things that I needed to be brave for.

病院に行く目的は生死が関わるようなことではなかったので

（この場合は命を守るほうが優先になります、インシャアッラー。）

私はできれば女性がいいと思い、女医がいらっしゃる病院を探してそこに診察にいきました。

It was not a life or death situation (in this case, saving lives is priority, InshaAllah.), but a standard check-up.

I thought that I would like to be seen by a female doctor, so I went to a clinic with female doctors.

病院について受付を終え、自分の順番が来るのを待っていました。

病院の待合室に座っている間、他にヒジャーブを被っている方を見ることはありませんでした。

After I had done my reception, I was waiting for being called my name by the doctor.

Whilst I was sitting down in a waiting room in the clinic, I didn’t see anyone who wore a hijab.

名前を呼ばれ、診察室に入ってみると中には女医の方と看護師の方、二人がいらっしゃいました。

その時、一番最初に先生に言われた言葉が「ムスリムの方なんですね！ムスリムの方がいらっしゃるのは初めてですよ。」でした。

先生と看護師の反応から、やはり日本でムスリムを見かけることはまだ珍しいのだなと感じました。

The doctor called my name and I went to a consultation room.

There were two people; a female doctor and nurse.

At the time, she said “Oh you are a Muslim! It was first time seeing a Muslim here.”

I felt that seeing a Muslim is rare in Japan.
