改宗ムスリムの人生（13）
アッサラームアレイクム！
Assalamualaikum!
先週のコラムに書いたような経験は
首都・ロンドンだけであった話ではありません。
私が現在住むバーミンガムでも同じようなことがあったのです。
駅で電車を待っている間座っていると、1人の女性がこちらにやって来て
The experience that I wrote on the last column didn’t just happen in the capital city London.
There was the same thing happen to me in Birmingham, where I live now.
Whilst I was sitting down in the station to wait for my train, a woman came to me.
私のヒジャーブ姿とヒジャーブピンの飾りを見て、「とても可愛いわね！」と話しかけてくれました。
They said to me that my hijab and brooch (hijab pin) were “so cute!”
イギリス、特にロンドン・バーミンガムは様々な人種な方が住んでおり、
そこに住む人々にとってムスリムを見ることは全く珍しいことではありません。
この二つの都市でムスリムに出会わない日を私は経験したことないぐらいです。
There are various races in the UK, especially in London and Birmingham, and it’s not rare at all for people there to see Muslims every day.
Actually, I haven’t experienced a day in both cities where I haven’t seen Muslims.
日常的にムスリムを見ることに慣れている社会の中で、
私たちが普段アッラーのために、自分の信仰のために身に着けているヒジャーブが
自分の美を隠すことが素敵だという印象を人に与えることができるのは
素晴らしいことだと感じました。
I feel that it’s lovely to give the impression that it’s wonderful to cover our beauty with hijabs, which we wear everyday for our faith, in societies that people are used to seeing Muslims daily.
場所、人種、年齢、宗教関係なく、
「隠す美」は魅力的なものなのですね。
“The beauty of covering” is very attractive regardless of what place, race, age and religion.
