アッサラームアレイクム！
Assalamualaikum!
初めてイギリスに遊びに来た時の話です。
旦那とロンドンの地下鉄の電車に乗ったとき、目の前に白人の女性がいました。
その女性が私のヒジャーブ姿を見て、声をかけてきたのです。
I want to tell you about a little story that happened in my first visit to London.
When I was on the tube with my husband, there was a English woman in front of us.
When she saw my hijab, she said to me:
「スカーフ姿、とても素敵ね。きれいだわ。」
“Your scarf style is very nice. It’s beautiful.“
その時、私は多少驚きましたが、初めてのロンドンだったので勝手なイメージでこちらでは
このように全然知らない人に話しかけて、服装をほめたりすることがあるのかなと思っていました。
At the time, I was a little surprised, but I thought that it’s normal to talk to strangers and praise their styles, as it was my first time in London.
「ありがとう」と笑顔で感謝の気持ちを伝え、彼女は電車を降りていきました。
そして私が旦那のほうに振り返った時、彼は口に手を当てて、これまで見たことないぐらいびっくりした顔をしていました。
I thanked her with smile and she got off the train.
Then, when I turned my head to my husband, he had his hand over his mouth and such a most surprised face I have ever met.
「ありさ、これはふつうじゃないよ！」
“Arisa, that’s not normal.”
え、そうなの？？と聞くと彼はロンドン生まれ、ロンドン育ちだけど
ロンドンの電車で一度もこのようなことを見たことはないと言いました。
私が想像していたより、起きないことだったようでした。(笑)
I asked him if it’s true, and he answered that he had never seen a stranger comment on a hijab like that before, even though he was born and raised in London. It seems it was a more peculiar thing to happen than I initially imagined.
